Here are a few of my more notable recent pickups. The older one is a 1790 Poland 3 grosze. I like this because I am Polish on my mother's side and there aren't many Polish coins from before the 20th century that fall in my price range.

Here are a few that I picked up this month and really like. I just received Bolivian proclamation medal today from Sedwick. Really cool in hand. From the HSA Col.

Nice pieces, especially the coin from Uruguay. :) Had no idea what the "segunda epoca" on the medal from Argentina referred to, so I briefly looked it up. Seems the institute was founded in 1872, then maybe dormant for a while, and founded again in 1934. So this would commemorate 20 years of this second epoch or stage.

The story behind the CoA of Buenos Aires is interesting too. As for the "ribbon" below the oak (?) twig, I wonder whether was intentionally left blank, or whether a member's/sponsor's name was supposed to be engraved there ...

It does looks like it was meant as a space to be engraved. I've got a similar medal submitted to PCGS for grading that has a similar device and is also left blank. Looking forward to having some time off work to do some research on them. JJ

Nice pick ups. You seem to be investing a bit more into your collection these days.
