You have time - just get involved and get your post count up. You certainly have enough time as far as how long you've been around. Get active a bit and you can do it. I had to do the same thing my first year.

I'm in too, and Kirk confirmed in PM.

I'm in and willing to ship across the ponds.

I should have put it in my PM, but dibs on anyone with an APO/FPO address. ;)

Is there anything similar to this on Coin Talk for paper money collectors ?

I hope this doesn't branch off into forum specific secret santa configurations. Kinda sad we can't all embrace getting an Ancient, note or something "numismatic" that's not so rigidly within areas we already know and collect. I'm open to learning about and collecting across a wide range of numismatic niches, but can't and don't really want to have to participate in so many different secret santa opportunities to enjoy the various sides of this hobby with the members joining in here. I hope this brings together those of us interested and open to aspects of the hobby we might not regularly consider for our collections and others' generosity through giving and receiving some fun and exiting things. The bigger the pool here the more exciting and unknown might the presents proffered be for those who participate.

I agree with Krispy. I'd actually prefer to get something from my secret Santa that is interesting to them. This not only makes it more personal, but also allows me to see items that I might not get for myself, but that I would probably find fascinating.

I know, for myself, I wouldn't mind a bit getting something outside of what I normally collect. In fact I'd welcome it. That's what presents are for, to be surprised.

No, but if you ask Kirk really nice, perhaps he will collect names for paper money collectors and assign trade for those...

I should say that Steve has some wickedly good taste when it comes to notes, if anyone is thinking to opt out of it because of paper money, should he decide to send something of that material, so reconsider before having Kirk do more work than he already is!

I agree with Cessna Driver and Krispy......let's not splinter things. We're all collectors and brothers and sisters. It's an opportunity to visit (maybe) a side of collecting you normally wouldn't visit......and maybe, just maybe, an interest in a new area of collecting could be spawned. :)

I didn't mean to rock the boat. I just don't have any of those shiny, metal, round things to send as a numismatic item. I'm certainly open to being surprised and having my horizons broadened.

Send ALL the paper you want my way, same goes for ancients.

I dont have a TON of experience in either, and classic US is my main forte, but I love anything exciting and new. Heck I may even send an ancient out as a non-collector, just cause it isnt something you would expect from me.

I'm not adverse to getting just about anything numismatically related. Lots can be interesting. And sometimes the unexpected can open up an interest in a part of numismatics you didn't know you would enjoy. This is Christmas and you can't dictate what you will get. If you think you can or should, well................
