so I finally bit the bullet and bought a little digital microscope / camera thing on ebane and of course, the software driver does not work with my Windows. I have Win7 64 bit and it has to work with 32 bit. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? maybe a downloadable driver somewhere?
did that and also send email and the responded. They do not have updated drivers. any generic drivers that may work???? any solutions?
Look up your camera model at dpreview and see if you can find any direction there. Might be some comments or tips from reviews or users there. Also, you could try to call a local camera specialist and inquire / solicit them to give you ideas to sort it out.
this is the one I'm trying to make work http://www.ebay.com/itm/271276057267?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT that's the ebay page for the one I bought.
Ah! Not a camera a digital microscope. If it's going to be a trouble and unsupported by your OS, maybe you can return it.
The item description does mention the Hardware system requirements "Windows 2000、XP、VISTA、WIN7 Pentium 1G, Celeron, AMD 1G & above, 128MB Memory, 150MB Hard Disc memory space,16-bit & above VGA ,CD-ROM, USB2.0 Or USB1.1" Are you sure you have what you need to support it on your machine? Have you tried to "acquire" images through some sort of graphics software the way you can capture scanner images through an application like Photoshop by importing or Twain acquire. I don't use Windows much but does Windows Image Acquisition work this way?
Yes, I have all that. I've tried going through software but it does not "show up" It also does not show up in the computer's listed attached hardware.
You might try this. Click on start and type "program compatibility" in the search bar. This may help you find a way to run a 32 bit program.
I tried compatibility mode but its not the software that's the problem at this point. The computer does not recognize the hardware yet. got to get driver problem first, then run the software
Just some thoughts. Your system may have more than one type of USB port. Have you tried having the camera plugged in before you boot the system? Is Windows telling you it can't find the driver?
This. Accidentally plugged into 3.0 port once and took me forever to figure out. But if it's specifically a 32 bit device driver it won't work on a 64 bit. Your options are to spin up a VM with 32 bit, try XP Mode, or download a 32 bit instance of Windows and dual boot.
It isn't worth the trouble really. Return it and look for a camera that has the useable software. Don't reduce the OS abilities for just one program. Many of the cameras will work as if they are webcam, so you might find 64 bit webcam drivers that will open it and provide a 'click-photo'. A alternative is to search for drivers for astronomical digital cameras, that is what I did when I use the astro camera on my regular scopes, and that was with Win 8.0, which was then broken by Win 8.1 Here is one source using search "free astronomical camera drivers" and a result to play with: http://www.astronomycameras.com/support/downloads/
Have you still got your old computer with Windows 2000XP (32 Bit) it will probably work OK then. I got a new computer with Windows 7 and had to use my old computer then transfer the Pictures across
Thanks all but a driver that works this camera is not to be found. so, I'm returning it. I'll start a new thread asking for recommendation before I make another purchase
