Man, I own like 20 of these things and have no idea who minted them, let alone all of that. I have the books for them, just cannot seem to give a crud about them.

I am kind of getting into Artuqid figural bronzes again. I picked up tworking large ones recently, and really dig the designs.

Lol, no, but I wish. There was a seller on Ebay once who happened to live in MN. He had a large group of Abassid and Ummayad coins. I just kept buying groups as he had them. Bought about 40 total, and Sassanid and Parthis as well. You might remember that group of Sassanid and ParthIan I post here a couple of year before, same seller.

Luckily you live on another continent, we seem to have much overlap in targets of interest:

Reading Arabic coins is a challenge. I found this book:
Plant, Richard. Arabic Coins and How to Read Them. 1973. Hardcover
to be very useful. It is cheap on Kindle, but the fixed-price sites I found today think it is expensive. It will go for much less if you find it on eBay.

Nice one. I got this exact same coin recently. The one thing missing in pics is size, these are really large, impressive coins. I was lucky, a dealer had just bought them so I got this one for $35, a nice bargain.

Imagine how much fun we would have though if we live close to each other! I can live wit competition for coins, I have enough. :)

I agree, either ebay or numismatic book auction. From those sources it runs $20 softcover, hardcover a little more.

Also a needed book for these is Steve Album great book. The latest edition runs around $50 softcover.

Yeah, these are very susceptible to verdigris. You have to rrally be careful with them, and have badthad on speeddial. :)
