I started a coin collection for my 1 year old Step Grandson Luis. He is half Colombian and Irish/Italian. I would like some opinions on the color and the grade of this coin,,,It looks Unc to me... and if anyone has a link or books that can tell me about the varieties of this series would be greatly appreciated.
Colombia, KM#193.2, .900 silver, weight- 12.5000 g. or 0.3617 oz. mintage-800,000 grade/value VF-$18.00 XF-$30.00 UNC-$60.00 1 other variety for your date is an over date 1933/23 I would guess your coin is XF-AU+ the color looks natural maybe album toning ? Krause values may differ from real life market values. cool coin.
Very pretty coin. I agree the color is natural. Can't tell from the picture if the high points of the bust are just missing toning or have some wear, but still a great looking coin.
Those areas of the obverse that have very little toning because of a slightly weak strike are flat but show no signs of wear. Thank you Spirityoda for your help as well.
Typical for this series, nice score. Some people pay crazy money for what are often marketed as "monster toned" coins in UNC condition. Imagine how the colors would look with a professional photo setup.
Thank you...It was a good score,,,I only payed $22 plus shipping and yes dealers do ask a large premium for monster toning and some people pay such high premiums. I can see paying a littlw extra but 3 to 4x its value is a little bit crazy. The colors do look much better in hand and the reverse has a nice cartwheel with no signs of wear when moving the coin in the light as well as the obverse too. maybe when I get some extra money I will get a nice camera for taking pic's.
