Whilst sorting through some coins which have been with me for a while I found this beauty..... we will soon part company after 8 happy years together, so she is getting some well deserved publicity. I have this exact coin already........ its so beautiful......photos dont really do it justice. 2.7g 18mm AE3 commemorating the founding of Constantinople, the ’New Rome'. The helmeted bust on the obverse is not an emperor, but the personification of Constantinople. The coin was struck during the reign of Constantine I (the Great). Minted at Trier (Treveri) TRS* in exergue Helmeted bust of Constantinopolis left, wearing imperial mantle and holding sceptre. Obverse Legend: CONSTAN TINOPOLIS Reverse Description: Victory standing left, right foot on prow, holding sceptre and leaning on shield; TRS* in exergue. c.332-3AD
Its genuine. I cleaned it myself......it was with many others covered in thick encrustations. Many from this group have been bought from me and resold by reputable dealers worldwide.
I have no doubt about it's authenticity, but it sure is one of the nicest I've seen. Love the detail especially on the reverse.
I really meant that in jest. Sorry for the confusion. The coin looks real to me but its just soooo absurdly nice.
No problem mate.....I understand completely. I must get 20 questions from people asking about authenticity when I sell coins from this group.... I may even get more for them if they were a little less good....
I'll show some from the same group to give an idea of how nice they are...... The metal is so sound on these beneath the crust......must have been sealed in a jar and not exposed to the elements.... I've been luck enough to cherry pick from this lot.....sorry for the amount of images, but they are eye candy. View attachment 367758 View attachment 367758
the bottom coin came from the same group Bing.....I sold them to the guy you bought them from on ebay.... (returnof4ugustus?)
Great lookin' commemoratives, YOC (congrats) => I have a couple of examples to toss into your thread ...
No, I purchased from a guy named Pcop987 in the UK nearly two years ago. Maybe he got it from the fella you sold it to? I like all the coins you've posted. Where can I see what you have for sale? Send me a PM. I'd love to have a chance at some of these and anything else you might have for sale.
Not joshin' you at all I have bid on multiple coins of his. I am sure he will come along and confirm later but he posted his ID in this thread the other day as well: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/yoc-selling-off-some-stuff.255370/ Work and life have been exciting lately. Work is finally slowing down but life is still busy. Plus I have been getting distracted by Destiny (a video game) in what little free time I have. I have three coins waiting for me to take pics and post them. One I am fairly certain is from the same group of coins that YOC's OP coin is from. I bought it from the other seller (thereturnof4vgvtvs) that YOC mentions.
I remember that thread, but I guess I didn't pay any attention to his Ebay name. I just went on Ebay UK and didn't find anything under that name. Anyway, thanks Whiz. Glad to see you posting again. Getting tired of Steve, so you will be refreshing.
Yeah, Pete, I've tried searching auctions under your eBay handle and I don't come up with anything. A link to your sales page would be much appreciated.
got to laugh!..... sorry Bing. I have sold about 300 from this group..... my memory is not too good. I only have 4000 left!! so grab them whilst you can.... I'm going to list about 100 coins soon..... I have given up on attribution apart from emperor and type....the collectors know what they want and they dont need me getting attribution wrong!! so if anyone from here sees my listings, please forgive the details within each one.... I have nothing for sale and havent sold for a year......so you wont turn up anything with a search. Also, they are listed on ebayUK, and available to the USA, so you need to log into ebayUK I think. But WB is correct, I am pcop987
