I'll throw in a few Vichy coins withOUT the republican motif. No more Liberté Egalité Fraternité, but rather Travail, Famille, Patrie (Work, family, country - rather less inspiring).

And with a big axe (presumably to show what you would get for causing trouble..)

 

And here are some 10 centimes that show how the Vichy regime was even getting stingy with aluminum to make coins as the war went on. The 1941 piece is 22 mm in diameter, by 1943 it had shrunk to 17 mm.

That axe refers to the medieval Francisca ... Those coins from Morocco and Djibouti are nicely designed, I think.

... and just for fun, 500 Francs from the French Southern Territories, inhabited almost exclusively by penguins, plus a few French researchers. Interestingly, the penguins maintain a significant merchant fleet!

 

That is not a coin; no idea who had those made, but it was not the French mint. If you are after "Antarctica" pieces that have an official status, get those "from" the British Antarctic Territory. Not sure about their penguin population.

Curious, I wouldn't think it should be so hard to find out who is striking particular "coins" or medals, but you're right, half-an-hour on Google and I'm none the wiser, except for confirmation that the coin in question is fantasy coinage.

Fifth Republic.
50 centimes 1963, aluminium-bronze, weight - 7 g., size - 24,95 mm, thickness - 2,15 mm, mintage - 62482000 pcs. Engraver: Henri Lagriffoul. Paris Mint. Coins of this type were released at 1962-64.

 

Fourth Republic (1946-1958).
50 centimes 1947, aluminium, weigth - 0,7 g., size - 18 mm, thickness - 1,19 mm, mintage - 51744000 pcs. Engraver: Pierre-Alexandre Morlon. Coins of this type were released at 1941 and 1944-47. Demonetized at 31 July 1950.

 

Third Republic (1870-1940).
2 centimes 1877, bronze, weight - 2 g., size - 20,2 mm, thickness -0,9 mm, mintage - 500000 pcs. Engraver: Eugene-Andre Oudine. Paris Mint. Such coins were released at 1877-79 and 1882-97.
