...and rarely in such a high grade. In fact, I've never seen one this nice.

RIC VIII Siscia 180 var. B (Victory walking left, looking right), dealer's pic...

This little scarcity snuggled comfortably into my meager budget and said, "buy me," so I did, and now we will live happily ever after. :)

I'll take your word on the scarcity of that piece. It does have a nice appeal to the eye.

As far as AE4's go, the two-victories types are the common ones. This coin is no longer in my collection - sold it to a fellow forum member...

The obverse on these small coins is typically very well struck. The trick is finding ones that have sharp reverse details. My newp is unusually good in that regard.

    chrsmat71 I LIKE TURTLES!

oh yeah, that's some cool LRB. is it an ae4 as well?

The reverse is spectacular, especially with the Chi-Rho.

Yes. You can get these in any size you want, as long as it's an AE4. :)

Cool Constans, JA ... you're correct (I haven't seen that reverse => I like the stars on the ol' exergue-line)

Ummm, I only have one Constans example (wanna see it?) ...

    Constans AE3
    Siscia Mint 337-350 AD
Obverse: D N CONSTANS P F AVG, pearl diademed draped and cuirassed bust right
Reverse: FEL TEMP REPARATIO, Phoenix radiate, standing on rocky mound, (Gamma)SIS and symbol in exergue
    RIC VIII: 241
    Size: 19mm, 2.36g

Ohh, that's nice! The porosity gives it an interesting appeal, combine that with a cool reverse type and you have an intriguing piece.

    Quite a pick up. :)

I only wish I had a real one - I understand they're quite rare and valuable, but I can't find any auction results. What would you search for, other than Sprintria or Sprintriae?

There are many listed on acsearch with the search term of spintria. Or are you poking fun at me for repeatedly mistyping the word as sprintria a while back? :D

It's hard to believe such incredible examples of ancient coins exist. It's easy to see why a non-ancient collector would think @AncientJoe's coin is a replica but his coins are authentic. :)

I get no results found for either word. Can you link any of the auctions directly?

Edit: never mind, I was the one misssppelllling it.

    Wow ... hot!!

Sure, they're aren't any goats, but there's still a whole lotta racy coin-action (thanks for the link, coin-madame)
