I have to admit, that is a cool quarter. That is one time damage makes a coin even cooler than a no-damaged one. I love it's character.

I don't know what it is, but, it reminds me of the one I'm waiting for...

 

Im thinking it was in a fire on a boat, then was lost at sea, then washed ashore where it laid under ground until its discovery.

How can you tell it's a quarter ? If you are looking for ugly quarters, how about this one ?

 

That one was so ugly they thought it was a nickel!

 

I believe it was copper-nickel, so they wern't far wrong. :>)
