What is a Matt finish?? and what is up with the 1995 D.. Post strike?

    Matte finish is where the mint either sandblasted the dies or the coin itself.

    A "Matt finish" is when Matt Kenseth actually wins the championship in NASCAR, instead of choking like he did this year.

    Just kidding, Bonniesue! I think I'm the only Kenseth fan in the southern US!

    Well he grew up on a farm 100 yards out my sisters back yard. I'm good friends with his cousins ant Aunts and Uncles. His sister used to run a video store.......anything else you want to know

    Weren't the early "Mattes" done by sand blasting, but the latest are ones are done by the acid method. Not sure. Then you have the other finishes. The satin finish, it's done by a laser system. The regular are cleaned up, and the proofs are highly polished and then acid etched to give the frosting effect.
