Just thought I'd share my coin storage method... if anyone has any other methods, I'd enjoy seeing them. Especially if you have a particularly cool coin room. Geeks do that - set up hobby rooms... do coin collectors set up their own coin rooms, with like red velvet chairs and walnut display boxes and cased loupes and magnifying glasses with gold handles and stuff? Maybe a yellowed map on the wall? Anyway...

I use factory fresh 50 cal ammo cans:

    With these organizing trays:

The trays hold 48 upright slabs perfectly, and also work great for 2x2 plastic holders. Three stacked trays filled with 2x2s (or ASE airtites) fit one ammo can perfectly. Any other tray configuration fits two in an ammo can. The trays with larger bins can hold mint boxes, etc. For trays with double sized bins, stacked slabs fit perfectly and allow 90 to a can.

Air tight, waterproof in most circumstances.

I use PCGS Blue Boxes, 12 gallon plastic boxes, 2x2 boxes and a Safety Deposit box for all my storage needs.

I'd show pictures but it's too freaking embarrassing!

I put mine in an empty 5 gallon water bottle, you really have to push hard to get silver dollars and double eagles in there

I use several of these (metal, no plastic, and it has a silicone seal to keep out moisture):
