I would agree with 2, but I think you would do better with more indirect lighting. All show too much glare for me, and if you are trying to sell this coin would make me nervous about what the coin really looks like as a buyer.
If I were buying this coin I would pick # 1, as the darker you get as in # 2 & 3 the more hidden problems become unknown until you get the coin in hand. Dave
I'll leave it you to tell us CZ, but I suspect #3 comes closest to presenting the coin as it actually looks in hand. I wouldn't be surprised if it actually looks a bit darker than that even.
I agree. This is why, if I were still into buying toned coins like I was in the 90's, I would only do it in hand. Toning, by being an interaction with light, really, REALLY does not translate perfectly to photographs. Heck, I have bought some random world coins just because I wanted them and they didn't look anything in hand like the pic. Some better, some worst. I am sure glad I bought them for their grade and state of preservation, and not toning.
