Recently picked up a Leo I with Leo dragging captive reverse for $3 shipped: And an unclean lot with what looks to be a Carausius (or possibly Allectus) and a very late Roman with decent detail on the obverse. The whole lot costing me just shy of $20:
Not a recent scraping. Maybe some of you remember this, I found this in an antique furniture store ....for $20...(new image) This denarius commemorates the defeat of the Greeks. (notice the trouncing of the Macedonian shield.) 19.3mm x 3.82 grams s.126 BC Rome Mint.
I still say I'll give you $25. That way you make a profit and I will take this poor example off your hands.
Oh yeah. I think this was the coin you introduced yourself to us with a long while back. Great catch!
Looking forward to seeing the results of the cleaning, VK. Looks like some decent detail under the crud.
Here's my 17-buck Septimius Severus of Nikopolis. Nice half-dollar size coin, very dark, a bit rough but hey, what do you want for 17 bucks?
Yeah, last week. It looks suspicious, though. Looks like it's been stripped by electrolysis and darkened. It was a bad-pic eBay gamble. Win some, lose some.
$17, my friend => total win (yah, I spent more than that on McDonalds last night before starting my blitzkrieg Halloween mayhem!!) ... 1Adam12 => be on the lookout for a 6 foot tall adult male, dressed kinda like Batman and carrying open liquor, wandering door-to-door, meeting neighbors and high-fiving pets and children ... *arrrghh* ...
