Saw this at a coin show and couldn't resist. He wanted quite a bit more for it than I thought it was worth with a corrosion spot, but I was able to bargain it down a bit. I think it's an upgrade from my previous half puffin (below). Out of 50,000 half puffins, I think I've bought 3 of them over the years. They make nice gifts even for non-collectors because they have a fun story. New Previous If you have a whole or half Puffin, please post one!
Puffins are cool. I had this full-puffin piece. Won it in a @H8_modern giveaway. I sent it to PCGS and it came back MS65 RD, which meant it was tied with four other pieces for the finest graded at the time (top pop). The PCGS population is now 7 in MS65 RD, still none higher. Still top pop. @kazuma78 got this one from me. I rather miss it sometimes.
A few years ago I stopped at a garage sale. They had some rocks and other collectible stuff so I figured it was worth asking if they had any coins. They said they had a few, and came back with a small container with some random foreign coins. I gave it a quick glance and offered a few bucks for it. When I got home I found these. Apparently they're a fantasy issue but are somewhat desirable. At the time I got them someone told me the set was selling for around $50, but I haven't checked into it lately. They're neat coins anyway.
