Pretty nice! I got my shipping e-mail last night but since I am in California I have a feeling it will be a week or more before it shows up.
Wonderful coins. Am I the only one that wishes the mint would offer the coins without all the fancy display packaging and boxes?
I wish they would offer TPG services as part of your purchase. They could save on the cost of the display packaging. Of course, that makes the broad assumption that a lot of people don't like the display. I bet many do. For my other sets I have the coins in a safe deposit box and the boxes at home. Having my house burgled and all my coins stolen a few years ago taught me a lesson about carelessness.
From most of the comments I've seen on here most people seem to think that, grading modern/just released coins, would be a waste of money. I personally wouldn't be interested in that option. If you really want to have your coins graded you can submit them after you get them from the Mint
why submit modern coins for grading if you want a 70 just buy one you will never be able to have them graded as cheaply as the major dealers i read somewhere that apmex only pay 1 dollar to have a silver eagle graded because they submit 10's of thousands of them
But Barry Chappel says that when he sells a coin in an NGC holder for less that $50.00 he is giving the coin away for free since grading is $50.00. TV hucksters wouldn't lie to their loyal followers.
So does anyone know if these are officially capped at 300,000? If so, I might need to buy some more with a different address. Sold almost 1/3 of them in the first day...
Yes, 300k. Go to the mint ordering page to confirm. https://catalog.usmint.gov/50th-ann...PA1-_-kennedy_silver_coin_collection-_-102814
300,000 is the product limit. But it has an unlimited mintage limit. I guess that means that they will be sold individually as well.
Could it be someone from another country? Why would you overpay, even if you are Bill Gates, when the same number of mouse clicks will get your set straight from the mint. There has to be something we're missing. Someone has the two clad coins in Chicago holders (ms69) for $1500 so I guess someone believes there are some fish out there.
HSN has this set for sale John F. Kennedy 50th Anniversary FDOI LE 2,014 Half Dollar Set all 70's $479.95 S&H: $10.95 ESTIMATED DELIVERY on December 8 graded by anacs
Just got my 5 sets. The enhanced Unc is interesting. Only 2 of my 5 looks MS70 (and I only looked at the front).
I am sure this is another deal ran in favor of Cointalk, AAN, HSN etc. They must have already had the coins or they can just put an order in for a grade and they get it no questions asked. That is why the thing for us shadetree collectors to do is get coins we like and forget the "big score". We may get lucky, like a slot machine, but in the long run the big money will come out on top.
