2014 Silver Kennedy set, what are you doing with yours?

Ok, I hadn't planned on buying many of these until I saw they were limiting production. After my local shop started offering $120 per set I figured I probably should order the most I could, 5 to my house, 5 to my moms. Now what to do with them? How many of you are having all the coins graded? Is there a coin in this set I should focus on in terms of grading?

    Thanks guys and gals,

If you have an offer that decent, sell most, keep a couple.

My advice is that you'd better sell as many as you can right now before any profits get eaten up in fee's. 300,000 is a relatively small number but it might behoove you to remember that:

    1. Its a coin commemorating a Coin
    2. The entire 4 coin set has less than $25 of silver.

They "might" have a sustainable increase in price but the precedent that has been set over the past three years does not support that possibility.

I ordered 3 sets with no intention of flipping them.
    1 Set "might" get graded.
1 Set goes into the Dansco
1 Set is held in reserve in case I'm all wet.

The idea that I could flip the sets for a $20 profit makes me wish I'd ordered the full 5 instead of just 2. I have to think, though, that that premium will be pretty short-lived -- like the premiums on gold Kennedys, which were gone before mine even shipped.

300K is a lot of sets. In the wake of the gold-Kennedy bust, I imagine there will be fewer speculators, and I don't think actual collector demand is enough to sell the issue out. But I've been wrong before. (In fact, I'm not sure I've ever been right before, when it comes to predicting the success of Mint products...)

The only one I ever predicted from the initial announcement was the 2011 25th Anniversary Sets which had a published cap of 100,000 sets which was well below the production of the 20th Anniversary Sets at 250,000.

I knew it would be a telephone war all the way and the success (or failure if you weren't able to obtain any) of the offering literally altered the US Mints thinking on the handling of these sets in the future with the net result being lower profits all around.

Although this may mean little, an interesting comparison of the 50th JFK silver set to the 25th ASE set is that it would cost the same to acquire the entire issue from the mint – 300k x $100 = $30M or 100k x $300 = $30M.

    keep all.....

first time issue for a silver half dollar. (1) reverse proof, (2) enhanced uncirculated all in 90% silver.

    (3) the proof version. they have it a lot with the silver proof set.
    (4) uncirculated version. they have it longtime before. 1964 with several millions produced.

Keeping it--why would I have ordered it, if not to keep it? It isn't going to be a high value collectible, so why even think of purchasing to sell it?

That is interesting but the thought never really crossed my mind.

I look at the photographs of the 4 coin Kennedy Set with a McKayla Maroney smirk since the coins just seem sooo freaking dwarfed by the packaging! They just seem like........2nd Place!

I often wonder why I continue to play in this game?

I guess the answer is to avoid playing in the "catch-up" game.

As I said in the other thread, I sold my 5 sets in the unopened box to a dealer at the Baltimore show for $750.

I wonder how many of these sets will be split up and lost over time due to collectors taking them out of the sets and putting into Danscos?

I don't get it. Didn't they just get released from the mint a couple days ago. (Oct. 28th). How could you get them so fast to sell ? I also see that someone says they are up on E-Bay. Can they advertise before getting the coins ?
