These are on there way to my house and both cost under $20. Top one is my favorite reverse "happy days are here again" with the Phoenix. I like it because it's pretty and cheap. The other one was just cheap.
You can start that thread. I've got a few items in that drawer too. And they're pretty embarrassing by any aesthetic standards - very rare and very ugly Nabataeans. I have spent more money on those decrepit things...
I've only gotten 4 coins between August and now. One is just barely over the $25. One, a denarius of Trajan, I got for $10 but as a present; so I can only post these two.
Actually, I went back and discovered that during the past year I actually have "4" coins that I've paid between $15 to $20 each ... wow, look at me go, eh Bing? NOTE: the first one isn't ancient ... and I purchased the last 3 coins from the same guy, during the same transaction (total = $60 delivered)
Those are nice, Steve. The first one is too round but hey, you can't have everything. It reminds me that I also picked up this Hard Times Token for $10 at Gettysburg...
Paid less than melt for this beautiful Swiss coin. This is the only "recent" coin that was less than $25.
I posted this coin in another thread when I won it, but here it is with my own pic, arrived today from Bulgaria. Not only is this a $22 cheapie, it's one of the best of its type - that I've ever seen, anyway. Constantine looks a bit shocked at finding himself on a memorial issue.
Easily among the best I've seen and much better than any I have! Who was it that said that the first thing done in the morning is to read the obituaries and when you fail to find you name it is safe to go to breakfast?
I'm a little late to the party, but I did throw some money into the barrel recently, so here are my scrapings (with their delivered prices)... ELYMAIS, Orodes I drachm - $12 POSTUMUS, Antoninianus - $18 THRACE, Odessos AE15 - $19 POSTUMUS, Antoninianus - $22 DIOCLETIAN, Antoninianus, Tripolis mint - $23 POSTUMUS, Antoninianus - $25
