Nice description. So I think it's fair to say they aren't very happy with PCGS's level of customer service and attention to detail.
Wouldn't these coins only be of interest to collectors that specialize in large cents, and aren't large cent specialists as indifferent to slabs as collectors of ancient coins?
I must say aiming a large cent collectors won't get him too enthused Verification #: 30354367 PCGS Coin #: 1063 Date, mintmark: 1804 Denomination: 1/2C Variety: Plain 4 No Stems Country: The United States of America Grade: Genuine - VF Details (98 - Damage) Holder Type: Standard Population: N/A The simple factor they got genuine slabs is an eye soar and the factor that when you try to sell most of these type of slabs there impossible to get rid of he's probably better off breaking it out and sending it to NGC or ICG or Anacs
I'm thinking that the only reason he sent em in was for the error to be noted on the label. I'd be angry too if I paid the additional fees for error identification and not only did they not do it the first time, but he contacted them and RE-sent them in and they still failed.
I think it's pretty hilarious actually. PCGS is guilty as charge in many instances. Their customer service is the bottom of the barrel. I own many PCGS coins, but I would never send anything to them myself. Too much hassle...they only care about the "big boys".
I have no idea. It's not my area of interest / expertise. But, he's free to publicize his auctions however he wants. I don't see anything disingenuous in his listing. Just a little humorous.
Or "knowledge"? Error Coins should get forwarded to Fred Weinberg for verification but it doesn't look like that happened here. OR.........maybe it did?
That's a generalized statement that has no basis in fact. Only your personal "perception". I have been pleased with a lot of my PCGS Submissions because I knew exactly what to expect.
I'm fine with PCGS' grading, I'm not fine with PCGS (lack of) customer service. They seem to function in a vacuum with poor communication and "profit centered" mentality. They often come across as more interested in their shareholders than their customers. This is not news, they have had this reputation for years. They have created their own reputation...
