Beautiful condition I found through roll hunting. But notice on Lincolns Bust, as well as Reverse below monument. This is throughout the whole coin, but best seen in those areas. Also there I believer there is a Die Break in Northwest above memorial. So Is there 2 seperate errors on this coin? And what is the technical term? Thank You in advance, Luke
Those marks are not any minting error? There are raised on the coin and you can feel them. I am not sure of any chemicals or PMD that would cause that and still leave the copper color.
I don't see any die cracks . Die cracks will be raised lines and not perfectly straight . When a die cracks it will leave a very thin line where the metal rises through .
Here's a link for die cracks . ttps://www.google.com/search?q=die+crack&client=firefox-a&hs=tvh&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&channel=sb&tbm=isch&imgil=wCiWuhsFfYoxHM%253A%253B_iiNL2YheNls_M%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.vamworld.com%25252FAttribution%2525252B101&source=iu&pf=m&fir=wCiWuhsFfYoxHM%253A%252C_iiNL2YheNls_M%252C_&usg=__j7VS4GMXYTkCDJl-7ecuuK7KhFI%3D&biw=1093&bih=482&ved=0CD8Qyjc&ei=gQhOVJD3IcSvyATKkIAY#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=wCiWuhsFfYoxHM%253A%3B_iiNL2YheNls_M%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.vamworld.com%252Ffile%252Fview%252FSentry02_DieBreak-Combined.jpg%252F34478883%252FSentry02_DieBreak-Combined.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.vamworld.com%252FAttribution%252B101%3B535%3B451
Ok I found a page that explains the different types of errors. This looks to be Bubbling-gas that is trapped during the coating process. I guess it is a common error, especially in the 80's. I will link the page later when I get home from work. But I will keep this one, just looks neat.
I thought on the revers was a die crack. but taking a better look, it is the same bubbling that looked like a slight die crack with naked eye.
