    man, I seem to be a real sucker for coins with cool hats on 'em?

    => oh, and a coiled snake is always sweet as well, right?

    Circa 350 BC
    Diameter: 17 mm
    Weight: 5.07 grams
    Obverse: Head of Philoktetes right, wearing conical hat
    Reverse: OMOΛI KO[N] around from lower left, serpent coiled right
    Reference: Rogers 263; BCD Thessaly II 92
    Other: 7h … VF, dark brown patina

    awesome coin! i remember reading about this cat in college (i think we read one of the plays?), i remember that he was bit by a snake.

    there isn't much else i remember from that year in college. :dead:

    Very interesting. I hadn't seen the type before. I was looking for a face, thinking it was weakly-struck or worn down
