I found this 1953 D in hand rolled roll today. Its thinner than a normal 1953 D and the ends appear to be pancaked and there are a few other differences.

judging by its collar and the pics I see that looks like railroaded rim to me ,does it go all around or just partially

I just weighed it on a digital scale. It weighs .1 gram more than a normal 1953 D but is a lot thinner. It is exactly 3.1 grams and a normal 1953 D in good condition weighs in at 3.0.

All the way around. It looks like it has an inner collar that is higher than the rim.

    What does Railroad Rim mean?

That would make sense. If you look at the back, I doubt a lucky penny holder could make the inner collar around the inside of the coin. That looks more like a mint mistake. Especially on the reverse. As soon as I figure out how to get my digital cam to work on this laptop I will get a close up of the top of the obverse. With a loupe you can see little ridges above "IN GOD WE TRUST", like a dime has around the edge.

Do you have one that was taken from a holder to show and compare it to?

    A normal 53-D should weigh 3.11 g.

FYI - copper cents weigh in at 3.1 not 3.0... so your 53d in good condition at 3.0 is below weight..

Yeah, I just looked at your example and there is a lot of differences. If this one were in a case you would not be able to see most of the motto. The collars are not the same as your example. Thanks for that. Plus, I need to consider these ridges above the motto at the top that resemble a dime's ridges, which I will post pictures of when I get the digital microscope working on this laptop. Thank you.

That was just one example. Not all encased cents are created equally my friend...
