Just finished up sorting through 10 boxes of halves. Total tally was 239 1965-1970 halves, 2 1964 halves, 1 1958, and a 1973-S.

Now I just need to find a bank that I can dump the remaining 9758 coins at :)

Nice FFF way better than most find in that many boxes. was there a box that was the really good one or were they pretty even?
RE returning the remaining coins, try to find a bank that uses a different courier than the one you picked up at. That will help keep from getting the same coins again. Eventually you will see some of the same ones again but if you use a bank with the same courier you may see the whole same box again next time you pick up.
Also, put some out there in circulation. I find it is very easy to put $50 per week in circulation with every day purchases, starbucks, tips for waitresses (they love them), and the like. I do Farmers Markets so I also give out over $200 per month as change at markets. But even with just every day items you can move a half a box per month, more if you work at it a little.
and Halloween is coming up, nice door gift instead of candy. What kid wouldn't love one!?

Picked up another box of dimes today, I've got to say. I'm really enjoying the dimes.

    Results were

    (1) 1959 Roosie
    (1) 1963 Roosie
    (1) 1964 Roosie

    and 2 Canadian dimes.

I'm really looking forward to my first merc dime.

I looked at it with my jewlers' loupe and while it might not have any obvious vertical or horizontal etchings that are the hallmark of such acid bath strippings, I did notice that the metal looked porous, but that's most likely because it's zinc and that's just the type of metal it is, I took a pic of it and posted it on instagram, which I'll see if I can repost here, but the image is so horrible you won't see anything, which is why I have a #florecentlighting hashtag on the pic on instagram. Either way, hopefully this'll do the trick to get the pic from instagram to here, if it does, you'll see what I mean.

    Thanks Softmentor:

As far as the breakdown goes, I found the vast majority of them in 3-4 boxes (108 in one box, 64 in another, 58 in another, etc.) There were a few boxes with nothing and a couple with only one in each.

I will need to do some research and see if there are any other companies operating in town. As far as I know there is only Loomis but its always worth checking. I had planned on placing the order now for an additional 10 boxes and wait to dump of my old ones until I get the call they have been shipped to the bank.

I used to do this on a much larger scale and was curious just how many would be around town or if they have to be ordered in from a larger repository. Currently, I'm able to hand roll them and return them for instant cash, or I can use the plastic/poly bags and do an unverified deposit where its sent out for counting but I'm fairly wary of trusting the bank to get it right.

Find out a bank that has a counting machine. Make sure they use one of the services that you do not use and you will be fine.

Example = Use Loomis for picks

Use = Brinks or Gardian? for drop back.

I do this and in 2.5 years I have only found 5 of my marked halves....

Three boxes Loomis halves yesterday, 2-40%, 1987-D, 2013-D, and a British 1967 One Penny. Looks like Loomis' sorting standards are a bit suspect. The penny and a half are the same diameter, penny is a bit thinner and about 2 grams lighter...should have been caught, IMHO.

I have found plastic play cents in BWR several times. Found one in a CWR yesterday.

I suppose standards are pretty low. Guess I should be happy I can get rolls at all.

Picked up my first order of halves today:
    Box 1 - re-wrapped skunk
Box 2 - all BWR gave me 2 Kens, 8-40%, 1993S Proof, and 4 NIFC
    Box 3 - half BWR half CWR gave me 1 40% 2 Proofs (86S, 87S), and 2 NIFC
Box 4 - haven't checked it yet but it looks to be all re-wrapped skunk

My vault manager told me to give him a report on how well I did and he was thinking of trying his hand at it. I don't think I want someone else dipping in on my territory.

Went and picked up two more boxes of dimes today from my main account bank that I use as a pick up bank.

Most importantly, I developed a good relationship with two of the girls. First they asked why I wanted them and I explained in filling up coin books for the future kids and what not and got some awwwws.

Then they said they had no problem with it and they enjoy me as a customer because I'm so sweet and courteous, as I explained I don't dump on them and such.

They then explained they wouldn't mind me bringing them back as they can give them to merchants. They even said they would make sure I don't recieve the same boxes I've already bought

Good day to make some relationships.

Also ordered a box of half dollars, coming in next week. Any odds I'll find at least one silver guys?

I've had zero luck with halves recently.

Will post my dime results when I get home from work early morning!

Also picked up two more ounces of bullion.

    Happy hunting!

    Two boxes halves: 4-40% (1965, 2-1967, 1969D); 8- proofs (4-1976 (one was a 40%), 1982, 2000, 2009, and 2011); 11-NIFC.

    That's a nice 50-D find, roll searcher!

I've often searched nickels and haven't had the pleasure of a 50-D yet. I have found a shield nickel in a box once...nearly so worn that I couldn't make out the detail but strangely enough the date was still visible.

When I first started sorting halves I searched for months without finding a walker and in one box found a half dozen or so and a 2001-S 90% half. That same weekend a family member who was joining in on the excitement found a 1970 40% half, the first and only 70 I've seen coming out of a bank box.
