Is it some kind of record that a thread got 'Featured' three years after its was started?
While not high grade, I do like my Caracalla with a left portrait:

I generally see these coins as having a pretty rough surface. I am guessing that is because of their composition. Does anyone know what the silver content of these coins averages?

From the photos, they all look OK to me. As for the silver content, usually it was the same amount as what was in a denarius at the time the emperor was in power.

In general I know the coins from Tyre are having a higher silver content & better quality then as most coming from Antioch region.
Because Tyre used same combination as they where making Phoenician coins.
Of course these coins are originals !!

I know the Egyptian tetradrachmas passed as one denarius. But I thought the ones from Antioch passed at a higher value. In the early Third Century the denarius was about 50% silver. So, if the Antioch tetras had that same 50% silver alloy I guess they passed at four denarii.
