Reading a news article today about a contestant on Jeopardy who told something interesting about himself during the introductions. Below is a brief clip of the article. Didn't realize we would be grouped in with training rat armies.....
What the hell is "kelpen" - woven of kelp? I weave my oven mitts from hemp. Kelp would be just plain weird.
I knew it would happen some day. We'll send the Rat Battalion to seize the famous Longnine 1952 Devil's tail cent and use it to take over the world...
WORD. Weavin' my oven mitts from flax, myself. And who the hell trains rat armies anymore? That's so 1997. It's totally been guinea pigs since at least seven years ago.
Lol...I saw that episode and was thinking to myself dude, get on with it...you are taking too long and it turned out to be absolutely nothing. Hardly anyone laughed when he finished. I think they laughed out of pity. It was really kind of sad since he was some super brain kid.
That's the right clip. It's just the author of the article was mentioning interesting hobbies that this guy could have said, but instead said this on the clip. So the post is basically about the article and nothing to really do about the clip.
Each contestant on the popular game show "Jeopardy!" is traditionally afforded the opportunity by host Alex Trebek early in the program to share something interesting about him or herself. Perhaps he or she collects coins, raises funds to train rat armies, weaves kelpen oven mitts ... you know the deal. One of Monday night's challengers, however, a Boston-based physics major with the name "Dan Tran," wasted said opportunity with what could have been the lamest "Jeopardy!" anecdote ever. Tran recounted the following scene from his misbegotten youth. "So when I was a senior in high school, I took French in high school, we went on an exchange trip, and we arrived incredibly jet-lagged," Tran began. "No cappuccino could really save us in that regard. And, uh, during an open air tour bus tour in Paris, I looked up and said to my friend: "Hey, you know, the moon looks pretty bright tonight/today." And um, they just turned to me, like, "Dan, that's not the moon, that's the sun.' And I was like, no guys it's the sun.' But um, but then you know it turned out it was actually the sun and not the moon, and I still confuse it nowadays." Trebek then graciously offered Tran a witty rejoinder should he ever tell the story again ... and moved on to contestant No. 3.
