Thanks for the replies, everyone! I enjoyed seeing your choices. I'm happy to have all the coins in my collection, but my favorites are the 3 Greek silver fractions : CORINTH. AR Diobol, circa 375-345 BC THESSALY, Kierion. Trihemiobol CORINTH. AR Obol It seems that Bing has the fanciest taste here, because he picked the three most expensive coins as his favorites. You're right about the $10 coin, but the $275 coin was actually the Corinth Diobol. The Hadrian drachm was about $100 less than that.
I am late coming to this thread, but I ranked my top three based on the original posting only: Top: #3 Hadrian drachm # 7: Corinth obol #10: Sasanaian Yazdgard III drachm
#6. CORINTH. AR Diobol, circa 375-345 BC #9. ANTONINUS PIUS. Posthumous Denarius. #10. SASANIAN KINGS, Yazdgard III - AR Drachm Picked because they would “fit” in my collection today.
Thanks again for tossing in your choices, everyone. This was a fun exercise. I did a roundup of the coins that were in the Top 3 for those of you who responded (without taking into account order). Here are the 4 that received the most 'votes' : 1st - HADRIAN, AE Drachm of Alexandria (9 votes) 2nd - KIERION, Trihemiobol (7 votes) Joint 3rd - CORINTH, Double Pegasus Diobol (6 votes) Joint 3rd - YAZDGARD III, AR Drachm (6 votes) I expected the Hadrian and Kierion to be up there, but am quite surprised that the Yazdgard III drachm was a favorite with so many of you. It's my first Sasanian coin and I'm currently looking for a few others.
