I beg to differ, I think saying 1315 signifies the purpose of the post and gives the main idea to what the question is asking, although 1.00 P.M. is certainly more clear.

What? I'm wondering who won, after reading Peter's post. The milestone was reached on Oct 12th. Is that the winning date?

I could be wrong here, but I believe the gentleman's point was about the actual date, meaning that even if a guess was technically closer but on the 13th (which is not the case anyway) than the nearest on the 12th, it was nonetheless on the wrong date.

I say they should both get it. I also say that we should be allowed to post more than once a week perhaps 2 or 3? that would be nice.

I am so sorry, I thought that the date was the same (both Oct 12th) and I thought you guys were thinking of disqualifying him because he said 1315. My bad.

1315 is 1:15 pm since I spent over 26 years in the US Army I still use what is referred to as "Military Time"

The fact that a day has 24 hours is actually well known in many parts of the world. This AM/PM thing is made for people who cannot count beyond twelve. :D

    Anyway, congratulations to the winner!

Oh MY, now you have done mentioned HOURS !

If you want to get really confused, just look up the history of calendrics and hours and degrees, etc.

One thing that appealed to me about numismatics was that while confusing it was at least easier to understand that our history of time reckoning.

    Half cents, Two cents, 3 cents, 20 cents, 3 $, 4 $, 2 $

In conversation, many Europeans still use the 8 in the morning and 8 in the evening expressions. After all, most of their watches and clocks also have only 12 hours showing. Maybe, in some countries, the military time is a side effect of being under military rule? Is Western Europe all on the 24 hour clock? I grew up with a 24 hour clock on TV, radio, etc. We always managed to use just 12 hours in our daily conversations and our watches and clocks always displayed just 12 hours, sometimes in roman numerals.

Yes, there is a difference - we colloquially say things like that. It simply depends on how much precision is needed. I may say "let's meet at eight because the train leaves at 20.24" for example. :)

In writing you will always see the time in 24 hr format, without am or pm. That is not the same as American military use, however, as we do not pronounce (and often do not display) the leading zero, while we do use separators like a dot or colon.

I'm calling them both the winner. dwhiz was probably a hair ahead though because he called the correct date, and I think you're wanting to know who to send the coin you offered, and I'd say it should be him. I actually have a small collection of those 2 Zl commems as well, so I'll send spirityoda something myself. :)

    Ok, dwhiz it is.

It wasn't just the date, it was also almost 10 hours vs. almost 14 hours in proximity to 11:09 pm.
