After returning the over-cleaned Trade Dollar I posted about a while back, I bid and won this graded British Trade Dollar from Heritage. The 1901 issue from Calcutta is among the lower mintages (a mere 1.5 Mil). It is graded XF40. Any and all comments are welcome. Rob
Nice looking coin, but 1.5 million is "mere"? Plus, the top two prongs on the reverse look odd. That would slightly annoy me.
"Mere" was supposed to be humorous. The 1.5 million is a lot, but most other years and issues were 5 or 6 million, with quite a few over 10 million and 6 years/mints over 20 million! Do you mean the prongs on the holder? I hadn't even noticed, so it must not bother me much. : ) Rob
@jwitten the prongs aren't the coin. You seriously would pass on a coin you really wanted because of some silly anomaly in the plastic of the prongs? lol...wow. @Teddydogno1 , it looks to be a very nice Trade dollar with nice original surfaces and honest wear. Lovely design! Congrats.
I said slightly annoy, not keep me from buying! If I had my choice between two pretty much identical coins though, and the holder was in better condition on one for the same price, I would pick it.
Congratulations! I've wanted a British Trade Dollar for ages now, never seem to find one where the condition is right and at a price I think is fair :-( What a beautiful design and I love the history too!
Everything he said . I collect US Trade dollars and really want the British , French and Japanese trade coins to go with my US , Spanish and Mexican 8 reals .
