I thought an overdate had to have a full date not likw 1/10 of a 0.

then again the only overdate i see is the 42/1 mercury dime.

That's why it'd pay to buy the book , the most important on varieties is Breens Encyclopedia . Though out of print you can still get them at used book stores .

So you would agree that it does match the examples that PCGS and NGC have on their website,... and it's not "just a scratch"

I know your asking Books , but it's an exact match and a great find . Knowledge is power .

While not one to give a 100% on anything without the coin in-hand, it certainly looks that way. The shape and location of the "anomaly" struck me as correct when you first posted the photos, and was only confirmed after locating and taking another look at the later-posted links.

    It's the overdate. I'm at 99%.
Not sure when PCGS started putting it on the label. An older slab may not show the variety. It's worth having fixed, even if you have to pay for it. With both coins you are probably stuck with postage and insurance to send them in.

First, please allow me to apologize. For whatever reason, I originally thought you and your father submitted the coins yourselves. Now, because you purchased the coin not as the overdate, but as the normal date/mint, what you basically have here is a fine pick and really have to room or right to complain to PCGS about the lack of attribution as had it been attributed, chances are you would not have bought the coin at the price paid. This is one I'd leave well enough alone with and simply pay for it to be reholdered.

As for the mechanical error, I'd contact PCGS about this one and simply try to piggyback it with the 01/0.

I'll contact PCGS soon, and if they don't do anything about it then i'll have a dealer that I'm friends with that works with PCGS all the time talk to them for me and hopefully fix the error and reholder the 01/0

I just found it odd that two consecutive coins that they graded were messed up... I understand that everyone makes mistakes but two in a row,.. and coming from the best grading company... it just seems strange to me

    That's definitely the 1901/0-S.

You'll have to resubmit it with the proper coin number (#8403)

    Nice cherry pick.

IMO, only 1 error occurred. The mechanical for the label on the 1908. The 1901/0 was obviously submitted as a common 1901 which has a different coin number than the variety.
