Let's see 'em, fellas! I'll start things off with one of the royal family, my 1901S quarter.

You are making me jealous! I'm guessing mine is a FR-02 but hey I'll take it every time!

I once had an opportunity to purchase an 1892 micro-O half for probably half of what I could have sold it for. Still kicking myself on that one :banghead:

I was the underbidder for a 1892 O micro O on eBay, quite a few years ago.

    It was a massive cherrypick.
At the time it listed for about $500 in Good, and it was an AG.
The current bid on the coin was about $50 or so dollars.

    So I bid $1,000.

    I lost it.
    One bid higher.

    Still hurts.

    Don't feel bad.

This will make you feel better:
I had a chance to get a (I hoped) VG for $3,000, at the time though it was above bid.
So, the dealer sent it in to PCGS, it came back as a G-06.

And it was only worth about $2,000 in that grade.

I still kick myself for not buying it anyway.

Yeah this one was a G4 in an Anacs holder...I believe it was one of the old small white ones that are usually fairly conservatively graded. It was marked $1,100. I knew a bit about it but not enough to spend that much. By the time I researched and went back it was gone. This was around 2009-10. C'est la vie.

I had the chance to buy a 1901-S Quarter FR2 Cleaned by ANACS at one of my local shops for $550 last summer. Didn't know anything about Barbers at the time and passed on it to buy 2 Bust Halves.... kicking myself now.

Some one else must have Barbers to show off, other than Frank.

People who know Barber coinage will know that a mid-grade 1897-S quarter is rare as hen's teeth. Add to that the fact that this coin is the very scarce center mintmark variety and then this lowly VF30 becomes uber-tough.

How many S MMs did they have for the '97-S ?

    uh, only one per coin.

    :)

The center MM on that '97 S is extremely scarce.

Of the dozens that I have examined over the years, I have only found a few, and usually in lower grades of AG or G
