$4 per dollar means 100 coins, not 50. There are still, more than 5 rolls in that bag.

I don't think there's 400 coins in that bag, but even if there are, and he got them at face value, I don't see why use words like scum or hell.

So what, he got a great deal. Awesome for him. Are you telling me you would turn that down? We don't know the story, so how can we even comment that he ripped someone? I've made some awesome purchases too, and I'd do it again. It's not my job to inform people of the fair market price for stuff they are selling. But if it was some old lady asking what they r worth or wants to sell them but is obviously ignorant, I'd be a little more helpful to her situation and offer close to what a dealer would. But if it's some old lady at a flea market, that might be another story. First off, I don't believe in hell. Second, I don't think karma is some supernatural consequence; i believe it's just natural or logical consequences to things you do. For example, if you steal something, you might get caught. Negative karma right there. In other words, no one keeps track of what we do. If you yourself can't live with something you did, you probably shouldn't have done it. Anyhow, good find. You inspired me

Thank you Jeff, it would appear someone ripped someone off...

We don't have enough information to make any judgement on whether Profit Man ripped someone off.

What if someone really needed the cash, so the bag of coins was offered at the amount he needed?

I'm sure Profit Man is enjoying his posts and reading all the comments after.

They were grandma and grand pa's coins. Just not his grandma and grand pa.

Whether someone really needed the cash does not affect the buying price a dealer should be offering. And agreed, for all we know, he's trolling for comments; I'm done on this one.

You people dont get to dictate someones buying price. If he is running a business he has rent, utilities, insurance, wages, taxes, etc to pay. The business owner has to decide his profit margin so he will stay in business, pay his mortgage, his employees.

apparently you are also scum & doomed to hell --

    see post above.

Of course I/we have no way of knowing any of your details, so I, for one, will reserve judgement on you.

As for the OP, well, he is just a rabble rouser who enjoys the attention.

Lets all ignore him, and he may go away.

There is nothing wrong with paying $4.00 for a 90% half. He should probably be buying them for under $3.00. That is running at about 50% profit margin, which is low. If you go and buy a $2 coffee at starbucks, it probably cost them ten cents.

your missing the point. Starbucks isn't coins, and don't confuse coffee with bullion. There is no set acceptable point, but for people who have a good buisness going and are trusted will choose to set their margins lower, and profit more from volume. Some people go about thinking that these people are the "scum of the earth" but in reality they're just trying to make a living, and it's your fault if you choose to sell at a pawn shop without knowing the true value of your coin's. Recommending Lost Dutchman coin's to anyone, really.

True but only if there was no factual misrepresentation. If the guy says "I'll give you $5 for the whole bag" it is legal. Maybe not ethical depending on your own code of conduct but still legal.

If profit man says "those coins are only worth $7 and I'll give you $5 when the coins have a value of $1000 then it is a fraudulent statement and as I have posted before a criminal offense in the state of Nevada. I'm pretty sure state laws about basic fraud concepts do vary all that much but I don't know.

So should we all just spend days speculating the scenario? I wish people would leave out what they paid on these threads. It does no good.

nothing wrong with making a profit ;). i make a ton buying silver coins at 3x face from people at my school who have jobs as cashiers and selling them at spot.
although, i would've stuck an extra fifty in there. best deal i got was 2000 silver dimes for $1800. i made sure to slip an extra Ben Franklin in the envelope, since i did make $800 on that deal. (no, that was not from a cashier)

I think $50 won't matter much, since I estimate the bag to contain 200-300 coins inside. That's worth 1400-2000ish in these extreme low's.

Dude your posting on an online discussion forum where all we do is chat. Further I find you gulity of not only spending your own time reading a profit man thread but posting on one as well.

Do not make up imaginary quotes from imaginary members. It is misleading, a lie, and can turn around to bite you.
