1878 seated liberty

    My dad had this old coin. I don't know the cent value because the reverse has nothing on it except the rim which makes me think it is an error coin. Especially since the obverse looks pretty good. Anybody know anything about this coin? Thank you. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

    Thank you but, until I figure out what it is, I don't think I'll want to sell it.

    looks like a very worn love token. the engraved enitials on the flat side. :blackalien:

    The back (reverse) of the coin was removed for a plain space to engrave something, usually a person's initials to give to a loved one.

    This one appears to have either not been engraved, or the engraving was worn off.

    Compare it's size to current coins and you will be able to tell what denomination it is. The only real difference would be if it were a 20c where it would be smaller than a quarter, but larger than a dime, but the obverse design doesn't really look like a 20c.
