post office claims anyone have this happen

ok on sept 24 had $400 worth of merchandise stolen , the lady delivered it to the wrong house, and they stole it.. the items are worth more then i paid for it . now the dion the post office manager said they will replace the items. how does this work do i buy it then bill them or do i have them purchase it??? or do they buy it on there own??

id imagine i buy it then bring them the bill

If there was insurance on the package, you have to show your receipt that you paid that much for it, then after about 3-6 months, maybe longer, and many many calls, they give you a check. It will not be for more than the actual amount you paid, or the actual amount you insured it for, whichever is less.

 

No way on god's green earth would this happen. Have you dealt with government agencies before?

 

go talk to your local postmaster to file a claim. the letter carrier that delivered to the wrong house will probably be fired.

 

Did you file a claim? That's the first step.

 

File a police report that your mail was delivered to the wrong house. They opened your mail. Saw it was valuable and stole it.

End results it become evidence in a case and never gets returned

 

So basically I will just get my money back
