I've often asked myself in my time spent searching thou all the bills i look at if its worth it. In my experience i'am reminded of that answer only a few times a year. But its those infrequent moments when my eyes open wide and jaw drops in surprise in finding a desirable and awesome note in circulation. In this case unlike other times which make this find a more treasured and gratifying it has no margin tears..stains...or pin holes. In all the years spent in circulating it retains a lot of crispness and has bright paper in addition doesn't have any distracting major folds. Without further ado i present my $1 2003 San Francisco radar/repeater star note.
It is a repeater but not a radar. For this note to be a radar it would read 00777700, 07700770, or 77000077, 07077070. A true radar has to have the center two digits match, the second four digits the exact opposite of the first four like looking in a mirror. This bill does not do that. It is a very nice low digit repeater star note.
I know the difference now. Just wanted to dig up the old thread from a year and a half ago and post another two digit star repeater found in circulation.
Actually, the word radar is technically a "palindrome": Any series of marks that are the same read forward and backwards like: noon a toyota a man a plan a canal panama 12321
And here are some 10 dollar star notes I have been plucking out of circulation. 2009 $10 Star Notes seems to be not too uncommon. I've listed these for $150 on eBay but no takers.
I think the general consensus is that the letters don't have to match. The topic of this thread is about star notes. I'm on topic. What's a "oozy rat in a sanitary zoo", are you calling me a rat? @Teddydogno1
@bonniview Do you think these are worth anything over their F.V. ? I do the same thing, look for star notes in circulation. I haven't had much success in selling them, however, fancy serial number bills do sell well. Now, yours is a combination of star & fancy serial, very highly desirable. My guess would be that they'll fetch around $30 for *0077 & $20 for *0063, IMO, I could be way off here. Here is some of dollar star notes I got from circulation. I put them on ebay for $15 for all 10 but no takers. I'm not after the $5 profit, by the time I pay the eBay fee, envelopes and such, I might make a dollar or 2. I'm just trying to figure out how is the market for these bills. I just might give up saving these type of stars, just too much effort and no return.
The "oozy rat" is another palindrome sentence. I was getting back on topic by asking a question about the letters in the SN. rob
