It's that time of year again, when ANACS accepts up to 30 economy submissions in batches of ten for $115 shipped. Now, in years past, I fell for this trickery and wasted my money submitting coins to them. This time will be different. PCGS charges a ridiculous fee for foreign coins. ANACS allows US minted coins under the LFO. I'm going to submit US minted foreign coins to ANACS! I will likely only have about 12-17 coins that are worthwhile to submit (coins that I want in a slab but don't exactly care who grades them), so I'll probably end up dumping Morgans to fill out the order. Now, should I stop at 10 (leaving two to seven coins unslabbed) or throw in Morgans to fill the difference? The other option would be to submit nickels or pennies that I normally don't bother having graded at all.
I just did. That discussion had almost nothing to do with what I'm planning on using them for. I think they undergrade a tad on foreign coins, but that's fine. Why? Because Americans tend to overgrade foreign coins. Beyond that, I'm talking about coins with values under $100. Maybe I'll reconsider and go with PCGS, but I really can't see spending $25 per coin plus shipping for Secure Plus. Maybe that's just me, though. As for your comment in the other thread about varieties, I disagree. PCGS/NGC will identify most varieties that bring a premium. ANACS tends to identify those that bring minimal premiums, as well.
