Don't worry about it. Rule 2 is rarely enforced.

I wouldn't count on it. I have seen numerous time outs and even some "voluntary retirements" from the site. It has been enforced sir. Not that your shot was the worst I have seen, I still wish people would leave other discussions off of threads that have nothing to do about the subject. I have had strong disagreements with some here on certain threads, only to "Like" their post and agree wholeheartedly on other threads. Please keep any issues you have isolated to the threads in which they pertain, and CT will be a nicer place overall. :)

It was a reference not a statement.

Meh, I misunderstood Vic's post. I know see he obviously is in fault here, and that you simply brushed him off. I thought he was giving you words of advice.

my how bored you must be to try and start an argument with me. I'll only say this once and I will be very clear.

I will no longer engage in any discussion with any members when the objective is to argue over something that is not relevant to the thread

I will no longer pretend to be someone I am not I know where I stand and I know I've made some mistakes with some things I've said before.

I'll ask for help and take your advice Books has given me a lot of advice and I assure you I do listen and I'll continue to listen.

With all of that said I can assure you that these stupid arguments I've had with some of you through various threads is over I'm not going to be that guy anymore.

Have a nice day Fellas back to the topic at hand. I wonder why PayPal doesn't do more to prevent abuse? I mean can't they clearly see that some of these policies can be abused? PayPal really should level the playing field between buyers and sellers a bit more.

I like the policy - maybe it will help some of the newer collectors or jump in and start buying first. That way when they understand that BU coin is really VF they might be able to recoup their costs.

My opinion is that one of the largest problems with coin collecting is that the market is so brutal to the new collector I would not be surprised if 9/10 new collectors quit after hearing how bad their purchases were.

My impression was that the changes might be to encourage/protect international sales/buying more. I suspect the Alibaba groups IPO will push globalization of internet 'garage sales' even more than we suspect. Although many of the asian countries have inexpensive, fast registered mail, there are many countries that use traditional ( and cheaper for them) snail slow mail, with many losses. The changes allow more time for resolution.

I find that the majority of members are kind to new collectors that need or want help on their first few posts. The majority of the slightly rude remarks are made to those who are certain they ripped someone off for major score either buying a 'unique error/variety worth 6 figures for a dollar, or a person that thinks the forum members are trying to rip him off and fights, argues , and insults the ones trying to help.

This usually leads to long term aggressive interaction and insults to each other until a moderator has to take action, but sometime it carries other members along in the storm.

Wow! I have filed 14+ so far THIS YEAR. Nearly all were for items never sent, so those are rather cut and dried. I also found out they have a "courtesy refund". Apparently you only get one and I have already received mine.

Allow me to clarify. I'm not talking about coinchat at all. When a new collector buys something from tv, from a guy selling third rate tpg coins or any similar situation we have all seen hundreds of times and gets burned does anyone realistically think the guy is going to try again or simply walk away. Coin collecting can get expensive quickly regardless of what your definition of expensive is.

The forum is more my concern than Cable/Satellite TV shows. They fall into a fantasy category similar to politics and politicians. If a person believes in it , it is their right to make foolish decisions.

I'm not specifically talking about any particular venue or situation. I was just making random references to make a point about the new coin collector. This person just entering the coin world is usually enthusiastic and at the same time by definition a novice. My point is there is this vicious kill or be killed attitude out there and many experienced collectors take a "tough luck" attitude to the misfortune of the new collector, as you just did above. The whole point I was making is many of these first time buyers are going to get burned in a market as vicious as coins. So what I was talking about is my opinion is that many of these first time buyers are going to walk away rather then continue after their first (or second or more) bad experience.

We the industry are eating our young and then turn around and wonder why there are not more people collecting coins. one poster aptly compared coins to used car sales. How many people are going to want to go to a used car dealer and get burned time after time for fun?
