    Happy Birthday CoinTalk!

In this thread, we post coins and other numismatic items that are related to the "birth" of CoinTalk 12 years ago.

    I'll start with a 2002 Silver Eagle.

    Happy Birthday!
I've been here for about 2 years now and they have been fun.
I don't currently have any pictures for 2002 to post but I am looking forward to seeing what others post.

Doesn't have to be only 2002 coins, you can use your imagination. :)

Something like, your 12 favorite coins, or a coin you got on your 12th birthday, or a coin with a 12 on it, or.....

Wow 12 years and I have only been here since 2010. Its been great and has helped me learn so much more about coin collecting. I have made some great friends here that I have been able to meet and go coin shopping with. I cant wait to look back and say I have been here for another 12. Happy Birthday CT.

I'm not certain this applies, but the following coin was struck when Geta was approx. 12 years old:
    Geta1_opt.jpg
    GETA Billon Denarius
OBVERSE: P SEPT GETA CAE SPONT - Bare-headed, draped bust right
REVERSE: SECVRIT IMPERI I - Securitas seated left, holding globe
    Struck at Rome, 200-202 AD
    3.1g, 18mm
    RIC 20a, S 7200, C 183

And for those of you who are not into Ancients:

Geta was the younger son of Septimius Severus by his second wife Julia Domna. Geta was born in Rome, at a time when his father was only a provincial governor at the service of Emperor Commodus.

Conflicts between Geta and Caracalla were constant and often required the mediation of their mother.

Their joint rule was a failure. By the end of 211, the situation had become unbearable. Caracalla tried unsuccessfully to murder Geta during the festival of Saturnalia. Finally, in December Caracalla had his mother arrange a peace meeting with his brother in his mother's apartments, and then had him murdered in her arms by Praetorian Guards.

Sorry it's more than 12 years. But they do claim it's rare. It's also
only 30 seconds so you can play it
    12 times. :)

I'm making some T shirts to commemorate the event. I'll post the design here when it is done. The more T shirts sold the lower the cost will be.
