So I logged into ebay today, got in, but everything I had in my watch list is gone...some other items that I had in other lists are there...but my watch list is completely gone Anyone else in that boat...I had a lot out there.
The problem for me was I could not get into my seller dashboard, and people could not pull up my listings. I can live without the former for a day or two, but if people can't pull up my listings they can't bid. And if they can't bid, then either my item won't sell, or it will sell for lower than anticipated. It had something to do with my account being messed up somehow. When eBay doesn't realize I'm a real person, I can't log in, and anything with my name on it (as a watcher, or as a seller) is also impacted. I'm going to be really interested to see what sort of "compensation" eBay offers for this. There really is no way to measure the potential of lost sales.
@drathbun I wondered if that would happen to anyone...on the flip side I'd be pretty upset (not sure how you'd know for sure) if i put in a no-brainer winning bid but didn't get the item...I'm not a huge seller, but my dash board is all good and I can get to my items in a search.
My mobile app keeps kicking me out, but I can access it by their website. I almost exclusively use my app. It has all my saved searches on it. I hope this gets fixed quick. I have some items ending today.
Feeling the pain in Canada as well. Here's an interesting tracker: http://downdetector.com/status/ebay
Affirmative . . . I can bring eBay up in a browser search, but I can't access any information specific to my user account . . . I'm going to start a poll in a separate thread, maybe that will help identify the nature and extent of the outage. - Mike
Wow, what a mess. I can search, and I can click on auctions in the search results. On my ancient Safari version, I load the auctions with no problem. On my recent Firefox version, I get "connection reset" every time. eBay says I have one item in my Shopping Cart (unlikely -- I never use that feature), but when I click on the notification, I get an error page. Well, I just tried that again in Safari, and it asked me to log in. I did, and I got a dropped connection instead of a login confirmation. So I guess I'm out of business on eBay for the time being. I'm betting that there are going to be some new openings in eBay's operations department soon -- or maybe their architecture group, if this is all fallout from some "improvement" to their implementation. I've certainly seen that happen often enough at other companies.
I cannot access any single item from anywhere, but there are several utilitarian pages (messages, coin policy, etc.)
My Android app was out all morning but works now. I could look at items on my computer but I couldn't schedule new listings or revise etc...
Welcome to CoinTalk. In my recollection (since 1998), eBay has done that once. I also recall close to 40 outages that lasted at least four hours. The time they extended closing times wasn't really due to an outage, but rather due to a national emergency. I recall it being a result of a hurricane (Sandy?), and not an eBay technical issue. eBay has generally taken a position of "oh well" when the site goes down for some members, but not all. Since I was able to access listings, but not log into my account early this morning, my assumption is any listings affected today will not be given any type of extensions.
