Justinian I, AE Pentanummium, 527-565 AD, Antioch. OBV: DN IVSTINIANVS PP AVG, Pearl diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right. REV: Epsilon with + at center, star to right. REF: SB 244, DOC 271. This is another coin that I ordered along with the Roman Republic semis. I haven't purchased a Byzantine coin in quite awhile but now this makes 4 coins that I have. Once I receive that is. The obverse is rather rough on the face but I did not pay very much for it. And I like it regardless. I keep forgetting to put my threads as ancients. This time I didn't forget. lol
Decent looking coin Gil, even though the obverse may be rather rough. What is the size and weight? Any more I look as readily at the poster I recognize as when the Subject is titled with "Ancient".
LOL, same as I. I have a Justin I of the same denomination, never posted it here though. Its in my gallery though.
cool GG, good to see some new byzantines. a pentanummium is on my hit list. here's a Justinian decanummium I have...
Atta boy, Gil-galad ... man, you seem to be buying and/or posting quite a few coins lately (keep-up the awesome work entertaining us!!) ... I only have one example from this ruler => my sweet ol' pizza-coin (it looks good enough to eat, yes?) Justinian I, AE Foliis
