I bought a box of penny's several years ago they were all rolled from the mint the date on the penny is 2000 they have all the lincoln heads on them but there is nothing stamped on the reverse side I opened a col of rolls and they were all this way I gave most of them to collector friends of mine and kept a few rolls for myself can anyone tell me how much they think they would be worth I was offered a dollar a piece and that seemed low to me....attached is a pic of the roll
The mint doesn't roll such, banks service companies roll them for the banks to use. Also many people , especially those selling on ebay 'Mint wrapped rolls' have their own machine to crimp the end of rolls. If you broke a roll, put up photos of both sides of a single coin for examination. Since a coin is struck with both dies ( front and back ) at the same time, it is usually a post mint damaged ( grinder) situation and worth a cent at best. Welcome to the forum.
I do not have any of the loose ones let however I bought a whole box of penny's back in 2000 from BOA the whole box was this way unfortunately I lost a lot of them from my employee's giving them away fro change before I noticed. Then as stated I gave a few rolls away as gifts....but I will take the last penny off of this roll and show you...all of them have the face but no backs and it was a box of 25.00 so they were tampered with unless someone took a box of new penny's and grinder down every one of them in the box highly unlikely but I'll show you one as soon as I get home incase you could give more info
hey before I do this I will not ruin the penny's by opening the roll will I ? I did take them to a coin dealer he was the one that offered me a dollar a piece for them I said then he asked me what I would take and just said let me think about it...never went back....let me know if you think I should break the roll
actually man never mind I just opened the roll there just blanks one has a face on it the rest are just blanks nothing stamped on either side...guess I'll open the other roll now heres whats in the rolls guess I gave the wrong ones away...
o so they are still worth something ...Great and no actually only 47 are blank. thnxs for the help guys so now that I unwrapped them are they worth less?
I want to thank you guys for your help this site is great I have boxes of coins I got from my grandma and you guys were such a big help on the penny's Im sure I'll be asking more questions later as I start to go thru all these coins and books of coins....I do want to know I have about 88 dollars in morgan dollars are they worth more silver wt or depends on the coin? I never knew she had so many coins and we were close but I literally have boxes full of coins she left me and I see a lot of silver and silver seems to be up there right now...so thnxs once again for your help glad the penny's are at least worth a dollar or two and I'll pass this site on!
Really does depend on the coin, condition, mint mark, key date etc... And never clean any coin, try to always handle them by holding them by the edges, like you would a CD.
