    Well, most people do not buy collector coins based on the metal content. That is what bullion pieces are for. ;) And "German silver" (we do not use that term in German, but you sometimes come across "Neusilber" here) is roughly the same as Cu-Ni; a typical alloy is Cu62 Zn20 Ni18 ...

    As for those silver-niobium pieces, the ring is silver (Ag900) while the pill is niobium. So the total silver content is 9 grams. Again, for people who are after metal only, a silver bar or bullion coin would certainly be a better option.

    Here is a new "coin on a coin" - a French €10 collector piece (image: Monnaie de Paris) which shows a denier minted during the reign of Charles the Bald. In 864, thus 1150 years ago, his Edict of Pîtres established the system of (then ten) royal mint locations. The king's portrait in the center is taken from a royal seal.

    I do not have the second pictured coin. Like you I have the bottom left coin in a 2, 5 ,10 denomination set with the 10 largest coin being my favorite. your is a very nice high grade. high graded coins on Ebay get big money.

    thank you so much for posting these new ones. yikes on the gold ones. gorgeous designs way out of my reach money wise. sure was a thrill for me to at least look at them and know of their existence. thanks for the info. Philipines has a silver proof I want down the road. there's a South Africa I might get tonight ?
