Can you see the D/S ?

I purchased this 1938-D/S Buffalo on E-Bay, and my tired old eyes do not see the /S.

In any case it is a pretty nice looking coin and I am hesitant on returning it. What do you think ?

Yeah, I don't see it... I'd return it if you paid D/S prices... 38Ds are common in high grade.

After looking at the pics again, it is hard to tell, but it may be a D/D variety. There appears to be something north of the mintmark.

My first "D/S" was sold to me as such, but it was years later before I realized that all I had was a regular 38D with some dirt on the mintmark. Like LD said, I would send it back, especially if you paid the D/S prices.

Also, please note that some dealers will try to upsell the 38D/S or the 38D/D/S as the "big one". Both CONECA and Cherrypickers state the big one is the D/D/D/S which is what my picture is above. Good luck.

I agree, if it is , it is a very low value premium variety other than the D/D/D/S. But actually looks like deterioration.I looked at 3 in the San Diego Coinarama show, and none were, 2 damage, the 3rd actually a D/D.

It doesn't look like any of the listed D/S coins (variety vista has 5 pictured). It's too low for OMM-002 - OMM-005, and the shape is wrong for OMM-001. There are no D/D north or northwest listed, but I wouldn't be surprised if this an unlisted RPM. Sometimes these things show up well in one die state but not in others.

    Nice looking RPM ... But is that a D/S or a D/D/S?

Or you can lose whatever you paid for the coin....Im sure that the $3.37 is a small price to be paid for a piece of mind.

I hear you Jaceravone, it just upsets me that I have to pay for someones misconception or possible scam.

I know exactly what you are saying....just this past week I have been on the phone with NGC about a screw up of theirs. I had to go through 3 people before I found someone who would refund MY COSTS for shipping it back to have their mistake fixed. Their customer service people really need to take lessons on customer service because I can't believe how rudely I was treated....but thats another story.

Well Joe, you probably had a lot going on rather than my $ 3.5 bucks. With me it is just a matter of principle.
Glad you could work your situation out.

I've owned at least 2 of the several 38 D/S OMMs. I don't recall any of them where it was difficult to see the S under the D.
