Note to all. It takes me about 20 minutes to prepare a quiz. When the correct answer is posted in less than a minute, it is very frustrating. That is one reason I stopped posting quizzes. Therefore, it would be helpful if all of our resident coin experts wait until SUNDAY NIGHT to post their correct answers. This will give others a chance to think for themselves. QUIZ: Below is a 20X image of a Morgan dollar cheek. It is a frosty BU. There are three very obvious types of marks in the image. #1 Is a light-colored small rectangle. #2 Is a light, vertical, dart-like mark. #3 Is a large number of dark marks of various sizes and shapes. Please Identify each of these characteristics.
Nice to see a quiz back again. I will do as requested and wait till Sunday night before giving my answers.
By Sunday night everyone will have had a chance to look. I'll post my answers Monday. I know it will be hard; but the last Expert to post the correct answer or the experts who know the answers but don't post at all ARE the REAL winners. I don't post so you and I can show how much we know. THANKS!
During the Super Bowl is best, why you ask? If I leave the game to complete the quiz, I'll get back to the game either cheering or crying but I will have the answer. My quiz: "Which game do you think I will complete without interference." Go team, whose team, your team, her team, his team, or my team! Good luck...
The quiz ENDS MONDAY! Hopefully the members that know what is in the image will not post at all! OR, they will wait until Sunday night. That's why I wrote that the expert who does not post an answer or the last expert who resists and lets his peers lose patience and post first will be the real winner. I don't post for the guys who know all the answers. I wish to challenge the beginners. I'll be back on CT Monday.
No idea, and admittedly I always read the quizzes and hardly participate for fear of appearing like an idiot, but this morning I am feeling lively and willing to try the learning process: 1: I feel this is the high point on the die and likely when the planchet was struck, metal did not flow fully through the recesses of the die, allowing for this "mark" to develop. 2. Deeper and more recessed edging than the other darker marks. Given as such, I am going to guess a contact mark/scratch. 3: Random and light in depth: I'll guess bag marks.
