I have tried to find a source on the internet and here for a couple of days. I have yet to find someone who identifies and values this coin. The front reads "GEORGE WASHINGTON" around the very embossed face of Washington. The back reads "1st PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES" around the top of the eagle and shield. At the bottom on the back are the dates 1789 1797.
I agree and thanks for responding. And to everyone that looks sorry for the picture quality. I did my best.
The side with the eagle and shield looks to be a copy of a Colonial token. The Washington side has a modern look to it..
What you have is a bronze medal from the Presidential Art Medals produced by the Medallic Art Company. Hard to tell from the pictures but it appears to be in pretty rough condition. You can usually find these medals for sale on Ebay.
I have looked online to find this token I have but it appears I can only find its replica. I was wondering if anyone new what its origin is, and what year it was made, and by who? Is it rare? Aaron
