Does returning it unslabbed in a flip make it more difficult to sell as genuine?

What happens if it is subsequently determined that the coin was actually real, but now has the TPG's "COPY" engraved into it.

Also the TPG wouldn't do that because it isn't their property

I like the idea! It at least puts the coin into a place where another collector might not get burned.

I was hoping someone would ask that!

If federal legislation were passed requiring the examination of the allegedly counterfeit coin by at least three separately independent professionals, and their determination is unanimous that the coin is, in fact, counterfeit, then it should be destroyed (or at least stamped as a COPY).

The owner of the coin would be provided all of the documentation concerning the examination and subsequent destruction (or stamping) so that they may be able to procure compensation from the party who sold it to them.

If that's the case I'll send them some coins because I might then receive quicker turn around.

If that's done watch the TPG business go bust!

Why do you think that? I doubt that it would hurt them at all. For one thing, if such legislation were passed, the grading service that initially examined the coin should not be one of the three independents selected to examine it upon review.

Yeah, you could send them all your coins....they're pretty much all fake, right? At least the group you have shown us. That 1800 S1$ doesn't even need the word copy on it!!! But, I'll bet you knew it was a fake BEFORE you bought it!!! Or not...LOL

First what we need to do is stop the flow of fakes from china. As to icg and the other third tier grading companies I just don't want any coin in their slabs NGC pcgs yes raw yes anacs old white yes. I'll buy an anacs to crack out too primarily cause their slabs are so friggen ugly. I think they do an ok job most of the time. Anything else I have no faith in I've seen too many cleaned tooled holed and plugged ex jewelry damaged etc coins graded cleanly in third teir slabs. Not to mention all the ms 63 coins graded ms 67. Let em slab fakes too I wouldn't want them anyway
