Just got my grades back on the 5 Kennedy's I sent to PCGS. My coins looked spotless and I only got 2of5 70s. Oh well.... I looked at the population report and the 69 ratio is very high compared to show coins.
I sent 2 Kennedy gold coins to NGC, I just checked the submission tracking on their website and both got 70s. I will keep them until I get board with them.
How close did you look? I could only find one flaw on one of the rims of one of the coins but never busted out the loop. I'm not gonna lie this will be a interesting issue.
Anyone know if the date cutoff for "First Release" applies to the shipping date to the TPG or reciept date of the coins by the TPG? I shipped my Gold Kennedy (along with several other coins) on 8/16 and it still hasn't arrived. Been trying to get more info out of the USPS but they don't have much for me at this point. Thankfully everything was fully insured, but I don't want to have to go thru that hoop-jumping...
Troodon, are you trying to up your post count? That's the only thing I get from your comments. No sarcasm, just facts.
As of 8/10, the mint reported Gold Kennedy sales of 62,341. As of 8/17, the mint reported Gold Kennedy sales of 63,521. As of 8/24, the mint reports Gold Kennedy sales of 63,388. Is the mint starting to get many cancellations and returns?
the mint should reprice these back lower wed if gold doesn't go way up in one day. I might buy one just to have. I just don't see much upside outside of the show coins. I don't know, maybe for the same premium a proof Buffalo looks better.
It would be very interesting to see what the grading services labeled PR70 look like compared to the coins that are now being delivered and returned due to quality issues.
Oh, yeah. I'd love to check out a few of the PR70s with a strong light and look for that "circular haze" I complained about.
I just received my second day order gold. I was planning on sending it to NGC for early release, but I see a flaw on the reverse, on the left side. It almost looks like a planchet flaw, not sure. I now need to decide whether to return it for a refund (guaranteed loss (shipping charge)), or hold onto it raw and see what they do after they stop minting. Hmmmm

I looked today and it stands at 64,305 as of August 31st. I believe that it is possible that when collectors and those others who may have bought one witnessed or heard about the fiasco at the ANA in Chicago thought to the heck with it I am not buying one and some people who had long delivery dates cancelled their orders. Raising the price $37.00 did not help the Mint's sales either. Whoever at the Mint was responsible for the handling of this coins' release should be fired.
