$1000 in halves...(9) 40% 2 of which were 76s which I found odd as we have only found one other of these. (1) 1982 NoFG

My best CRH I ever did was I got $20 in half dollars from a bank which I normally don't go to. I found a 1979 S proof half dollar and two 40%ers.

I do the cash ordering at my baking I work at, so I ordered $1000 in halves for this Wednesday. Haven't ordered them in a while. Will ask the Loomis driver if I am able to order Ikes. I don't see it on my order sheet. If I can, then it's game on!

back when BoA ordered them for me, they told me there was a blank space on the order sheet where they wrote in "Eisenhower $500"

On October 31, 2012, I got very lucky: 3 Ben Franklins, a walking liberty and a Stone Mountain commemorative half plus 2 40% Kennedy halves (see post #23644). I decided to go to a few banks again today (5) and make the last stop the same one I got so lucky at a year and a half ago. I'm glad I did.

The teller had $71 in halves. All stored in a plastic tub. She counted them all out one at a time. She came to a few very "dirty" ones and asked "Do you want the dirty ones, too?" I said, "Yeah, throw them all in." I could already see they were tarnished black because they were silver. She repeated "Are you sure?" I pondered a bit (not too long, I could hear the clink of silver) and said yes.

To make a long story short:

    17 1964 Kennedy halves
    8 Kennedy 40%ers
    a 1943-D and a 1942 Walking Liberty
    a 1951 Ben Franklin half
Throw in two more 40%ers from a different bank and I found just under 9 ounces today (8.7 ounces).

Moral of the story: You want the dirty halves, too.

I keep messing up the count! It was actually 12 40%ers total, which means just over 9 ounces of silver.

Just finished 2 boxes of halves. Not even a sniff of silver, and only a few NIFC's. I think this area is pretty dry.

Asked about ordering Eisenhowers. He said it's up to the company we order through. They don't offer them...

My bank will order Ike's for me if I want. I have to order $2,000 at a time. They come in $1,000 plastic bags. Last $2k I did had one silver and 5 "type" keepers. Not much, just some slim pickin's. From $2k, you can usually find enough decent grades to put together a set of AU quality with a few BU if you want one.

2 Boxes of halves- Both unusual

    Box 1 - Found 1 - 40% and 2 - 90% (1964)
    Box 2 - 2 - 40%

Found $7 on NIFC. Also found 8 S coins, all with marks. Either I got someone's collection, or I'm looking at the signature of another roll hunter. There were 4 1982 S, 1 1979 S, 1 1988 S, 1 1986 S, and 1 Bicentennial S which was in really excellent condition except for the magic marker. The others were in varying states from good to not so good. The marks were identical, scattered between the two boxes. Oh, and I forgot to mention I found 1 gold plated 1974.

That 76 is not a 40%er is it?

Unfortunately, no. I've been hoping to find one of those ever since I started and have had no luck. I've only found 2 bicentennial S to date, neither one silver. It's pretty amazing to me that I've actually been finding the rarer of the species. There were less clad S in that date than silver.
