Hmmm? ... ummm, while I was searching through my coins, I stumbled across this ol' sweetie that really has the same kinda "feeling" as my new purchase ... => they both have the same sweet, root beer look about them, yes? Pontos, Amisos ... ummm so, I guess post any of your root-beer lookin' patina coins as well ...
I love your new coin for all the obvious reasons. Same for yours TIF. I wish I had a coin to contribute. (We must be patient my love. Patience. Soon we will join in. Yesssssss)
Nice pick up with great eye appeal! One of these coins depicting the 'ol Astartemobile is on my want list.
Thanks for the coin-comments, fellas ... Oh, and thanks for posting your amazing Tyche example, Zohar (another beautiful piece from your sweet collection ... yup, I'm very jealous of your coins) Bing => I was unsure whether you were speaking from the Gollum-side of your personality, or from your Smeagol-side, but either way I hope to see some new coins once you arrive back home from your trip!
Not a bad coin and rather hefty too. I can see ya hammering a couple glasses of wine, then you're like "I'm getting this coin right now. Gotta get my fix!" Then you can say you stopped collecting animals and now have a fascination with Tyche and Astarte. lol Sadly, I don't have one of these to post. I don't have a single Greek or Greek classified coin.
I have several Roman Egyptian tetradrachms with Tyche Hadrian/Tyche, 117/8 AD. Emmett 901(2) R4 Claudius II/Tyche, 269/70 AD. Emmett 3896(3) R4 Carinus/Tyche, 283 AD. Emmett 4012(1-A) R3
A quality pickup Steve! My only coins with Tyches have the Tyche of Ravenna depicted, from the Ostrogothic Kingdom:
