    Gil-galad I AM SPARTACUS

    Hanniballianus.jpg

Hannibalianus, AE16, 336-337 AD, Constantinople, als Rex regum unter Constantine I.

OBV: FL HANNIBALLIANO REGI, bare-headed, draped, cuirassed bust right.

REV: SE-CVRITAS PVBLICA, Euphrates seated right on ground, holding sceptre, overturned urn at his side, from which waters flow, reed in background. Mintmark CONSS.

    REF: RIC VII Constantinople 147.

I really don't understand the difference between RIC VII Constantinople 147 or 148. Does someone know?

Yes, I know it has a hole in the coin but that helped make it more affordable to me. In fact I'm getting a really good price on it. It's also reserved with this dealer for next month's purchases. He asked me if I wanted it and I sure will take it!!

Assuming all goes well I will have it next month. I couldn't resist posting it today. lol

Post your Hannibalianus coins if you have one. I know, they are super rare.

That's one monster hole. I wonder if it was on a rope necklace. Still, I would gladly include that coin in my collection any day of the week. Nice find!

One of my favorite LRBs. I think yours is a nice coin even with the hole. Congrats!

If I recall correctly the only difference between RIC 147 and 148 is the reverse legend break (SE-CVRITAS versus SEC-VRITAS, with the latter being much rarer). Here's my 147...

Impressive! I don't have him yet, and probably won't for a good while either. Definitely a good idea to settle for less than perfect rarities for cheap. You will fill tough holes and can always upgrade when you have enough cash.

Wow, sweet score Gil-galad ... that's a fairly rare ruler to tick-off the ol' list, eh?

    => #137 on the ERIC-II Rarity List

    ... congrats

Oh, and nice Rex Regum, Z-bro

    Gil-galad I AM SPARTACUS

Thanks a lot guys. I was really surprised when the coin was offered to me. I'm getting the coin for $35. For one I've purchased a lot of coins from this dealer. He tells me that he got over a 1000 coin lot and so he can sell a bit cheaper.

That's definitely a nice coin Zumbly. I believe I remember when you posted that coin before. Very soon I'll be a proud owner as well.

You better believe it. I recently got Flavius Victor which is #130. I don't think I'll manage to get higher than 137, but you never know.
