I only just saw this thread ... not to rain on the parade, but there already exists an identical service; numismatic education that's 100% free, 100% online, and taught as "lectures" that are essentially narrated PowerPoint presentations (and interactive parts) with quizzes at the end. I was one of their guinea-pigs during the "beta", and haven't check on it in quite a while so I don't know what new courses they may have added. http://www.universityrarecoins.com/
Oh, you're correct. That's new -- I told you I hadn't been there since beta! They've set up a booth at the last few national-level shows promoting their university -- one assumes it gets expensive!
Grandpa saying still apples 'Only thing Free is a hard time". World has not changed much in my 63yrs just date.
I just stumbled on this thread. I haven't read any of it, but, based on the title of the thread, I must ask, how do you, josh's coins, have anything at all to do with the future of Coin Talk?
I've basically have been doing this through my lesson threads now. The program did have over 40 people signup. Perhaps I'll start this up again sometime soon but I'd need help from experts to make some great content.
You gave a online teaching about a modern coin that was around for a month, where there are no errors, or varieties, and every one is nearly perfect entombed in plastic. What insight or teachings were you able to give about this coin?
Well I have written an article and had follow up questions. That was a homework assignment pretty basic stuff along with some talk about long term and short term marketing of this coin. It was pretty great. I'm reading through this thread now trying to remember why I gave up on this so quickly.I know that I don't have the expertise to do this all on my own. If some people could help then I can get this started again.
Well, at least this time I'm not the dumb-[donkey] that revived such a quality thread. I can take solace in that.
Wasn't meant to be rude, Josh... just an honest and straightforward observation masquerading as a friendly reminder.
No comment other than I can't believe I actually read through this entire thread whose title lead me to believe that some Big Changes were going to occur with CoinTalk in the Future.
This is more of a very small part of cointalk history. This thread was created in April so there were some big changes that took place. Featured threads, gallery, and the showcase. According to @Peter T Davis there is more to come.
