I just got this very interesting coin today, I never knew these were made until I saw this one. It is a 1862 British silver 1 1/2 pence. It is the smallest coin I have now, smaller than a panama pill I believe. It weighs 0.706 grass and is 12mm. 256,000 mintage for 1862. It is listed with Great Britain in Krause book, and says although it is the same design as homeland type, they were minted for Ceylon and Jamaica. Mine is in terrible shape, but I only paid 4.50 for it just because I liked it.
^I bought one on ebay last year, in better shape of course, because I didnt know they were around either. I thought it was cool. Plus I love queen vicky coinage anyways.
Got my Bahamas coins in the mail today. These things are beasts. The toning on the reverse of the 50 Cent is amazing in hand...all rainbowed. I'm VERY happy with them, especially since I paid under melt for them
The ones I am seeing are in the $20 range right now. I am collecting world silver coins with only 1 rule: I only at or below melt (unless it's a series I collect like British Half Crowns)
Beautiful coin What is the melt value? About 25 cents? I have to go with my only world coin rule... I'd give you a nice clad Washington quarter for it Actually I'd bid higher on it, but knowing nothing about the series I probably wouldn't go super high. Regardless, she is pretty
1979 I gave 2 1/2 marks for about 10-20 Great Britain German Australian Unc coins . US money maybe 7.50 10.00 most has grade MS 60 -67 only had four that came back Au 55-58.
that's a sweetly toned 1843, jello (I love it) ... I also love that other version that you're showing-off (1885 => AU-55?)
I just won this one for a great price - $10. This is the rare date for the series and other ones I've bid on sold in the $30-$40 range. Now I have the entire series in this style from 1870 to 1921. I love big bronze coins, but these don't seem to have much collector interest. I just need the 1895 to complete the 5 centimes set from the same dates.
